In December 2012, my family and I embarked on a journey of a lifetime, to see our first born, Oliver, take his rite of passage into adulthood. It was a trip that belonged in our dreams, and realized in the hands of a great and remarkable lover of Israel, General Hemeli. Alongside our whole immediate family, we closed our eyes and left all trust in the hands of General Hemeli to guide us through this holy experience. For the next twelve days, we were taken on an extraordinary trip by this great man, who every step of the way, instilled a love of Israel in our hearts. From the moment we stepped off the plane, onto every excursion we took on the bus onto our next destination, General Hemeli whispered the history of this beautiful land into our ears.
General Hemeli had taken meticulous care of every moment of this trip, making even the most insignificant moments, a significant one for each of us. He had a magic touch to him that made every one of us fall in love with Israel, from our four year son, to the oldest member of our family. It was as if we all experienced Israel for the first time. The most amazing experience of all belonged to our son, Oliver, as General Hemeli had taken painstaking care to see to it that Oliver was recognized everywhere we went. Oliver was made to feel like a king.
Under the beautiful striking blue skies, as the sun extended its golden arms over us, we were welcomed by shofars and drums at the Davidson Archaeological Garden, the day that was to be Oliver’s Bar Mitzvah. It was indeed a moment that became grander than all of us there. And it is all thanks to General Hemeli. He indeed became a member of our family, and has remained so ever since. From Tel Aviv, to the Holy City, to the Dolphin Reef in Eilat, all the amazing experiences that lay therein, are an extension of the care of General Hemeli. And so it is with that that we wholeheartedly and without reservation recommend General Hemeli to take you on a trip of a lifetime…..to Israel!
