Holidays In Israel – Hannukah & Christmas
As an Interfaith and cross cultural country (often more than people realize), Israel is an amazing place to spend the Holidays in. Any holiday really, but especially when Jewish and Christian and Muslim Holidays happen at the same time. Such times are usually in the winter with Hannukah and Christmas in December and around April in the Spring with Easter and Passover.
December is a special and unique time. One of the very best places in the whole country to experience the intensity of light, faith, happiness and love (yes…love!) is the northern city of Haifa. Every year in December, Haifa is decorated with lights, a giant Christmas tree and a Hannukah Menorah and there is a whole week long festival called “The Holiday of Holidays” where Jews and Arabs all meet in galleries, markets and other events, dancing and singing, enjoying street food and performances and generally having loads of fun. Together!
