Day 10 – Rafting and Opera do mix!
June 21st, 2014
It’s been an amazing journey in the country of milk and honey, but all good things must come to an end some time. We learned a lot, had fun and got a taste of life in Israel both the luxurious and the daily. It was a bit sad waking up knowing our journey had come to its last day but we knew that we still had a lot to see and do.
Our first order of business was to get active and have FUN! We went rafting on the Jordan river. It was a blast (you can see it on our face in the pictures!). From there we went ahead and toured the border between Israel and Lebanon.
We then had a short rest and got ready to check out of the hotel. We drove back to the city of Akko (Acre) where we had another pleasant walk on the ancient walls by the sea and the narrow streets and markets.
In the evening we entered the Crusaders Knights’ Halls – which we have already visited by day light on our second day. This time though, it was to watch and enjoy an Opera – Don Giovanni. It was simply breathtaking! The lights, the stage and set and the acoustics! It was literally like stepping back in time and just let the music fill your heart.
It was a truly majestic ending to a majestic journey.
We were driven back to the airport to catch our flight back to NYC but we wish we could have stayed.
Never mind, we are planning to come back very soon!
